Supper and a movie - date nights secure with helping hand from Howard Kennedy

Law firm Howard Kennedy is at the heart of the restaurant and cinema revolution, helping Comptoir Group PLC and Everyman Media Group PLC expand their UK footprints.

In September, Howard Kennedy’s award-winning Capital Markets team helped Comptoir Group PLC raise £4m and Everyman Media Group PLC raise £17m via share placings on the AIM market at the London Stock Exchange.

Everyman Media Group own and operate 21 independent boutique cinemas across the UK. Its cinemas deliver high quality food and drink in intimate and atmospheric venues offering a broad range of programming content from the best blockbusters, independent releases and event cinema, creating a memorable experience for discerning film buffs, reminiscent of the golden age of cinema. As Roman Polanski once said, “cinema should make you forget you are sitting in a theatre” and that is exactly what Everyman has achieved.

Everyman is now the fastest growing independent cinema network in the UK, and its £17m fundraising will allow it to continue to accelerate the company's growth plans by financing additional new cinema openings in 2019 and beyond.

Comptoir Libanais is changing the casual dining market, with its fresh and healthy Middle Eastern inspired menu taking diners back to the souk.

The restaurant group was created by Tony Kitous, who came to Britain in 1998 with just £70 in his pocket. He opened his first restaurant in 1993 after selling harissa and merguez sandwiches and home-made lemonade outside his local football club. Comptoir Group currently operates 20 Lebanese canteens across the UK, growing from just one outlet in 2008, and with ambitions to reach 50 restaurants over the next five years. Howard Kennedy advised Comptoir Group on its IPO in June 2016, in which £16m was raised by way of a placing.

Howard Kennedy’s Capital Market team is led by partner Keith Lassman, who said:
