What a year it has been. I'd like to say a big thank you to all of the wonderful members, sponsors, volunteers, committee members and, of course, my firm, Howard Kennedy, for supporting the South East branch of Woman in Property and my time as Chairman. It has been a truly memorable year.

The journey has been challenging and fulfilling, and such a delight to be part of such a strong network which continues to help women at all levels in the property industry. It is a journey I would certainly recommend to others.

There have been many enjoyable moments and here are my highlights from the past year.

My favourite networking breakfasts were the ones we hosted here at Howard Kennedy, particularly Michelle Dix of Crossrail 2 and Battersea Dogs Home CEO Claire Horton. Both are fantastic and inspirational speakers.

The Property Race Day at Ascot is one of the summer highlights. Women in Property host a lunch at the Ascot Grill prior to the event with tickets including Premier Admission. I very much enjoyed taking my clients and contacts to this event and catching up with old friends.

I have particularly enjoyed the site visits, which as a real estate finance lawyer are more often than not left to my development colleagues. We are returning to Battersea Power Station in April to see how the development is progressing at this iconic site, and I will certainly be booking my space. Another highlight was being a guest of honour along with Louise Brooke-Smith, the then President of the RICS, at the Corenet Summer Party.

I would particularly like to highlight the three judging days we have held in the South East for the Women in Property Best of the Best competition in January 2016. I was extremely impressed with the standard of the candidates, all of whom are studying the built environment at various universities in the South East and have been nominated by lecturers. I am looking forward to seeing whether one of our regional winners can win the national competition again, as candidates from the South East were national winners in both 2014 and 2015.

I am delighted to be handing over to the very capable new Chairman for 2016-2017, Sally Morris-Smith of Shepherd and Wedderburn, and will continue to play an active role in the South East Committee.
