Legal 500 2017 – a great year for Howard Kennedy

Tier 1 recognition for Retail and an increase in eight other areas

Howard Kennedy is delighted to report our improved rankings in Legal 500 2017, one of the largest and most in-depth surveys of the legal industry. The firm has improved its rankings in nine practice areas, with the highlight being a tier 1 ranking for our work in the Retail industry. We take great pride in the client commentary regarding our work, including "the team provides 'strong service and excellent industry knowledge' and is 'particularly good at assisting new entrant retail businesses to the UK to get up to speed with local laws and commercial leasing practices'."

Other success stories include the Residential Property (receiving Legal 500 recognition for the first time), Media & Entertainment, Family, Crime, Planning, Hotels & Leisure, Property Finance and Partnership practices all increasing their rankings.

Legal 500 this year has introduced 'next generation lawyers', which recognises non-partners moving up the ranks. Clients commented that Daniel McClean is "really hungry to get the best results for his clients, with an excellent understanding of the art world and a sophisticated understanding of artists". Media & Entertainment litigation lawyer Elizabeth Morley is described as "quietly charming, but with a steely core" when advising clients. Retail senior associate Vanessa Laundon is recognised for her 'fantastic' work alongside colleagues providing "succinct, timely advice' to a multitude of luxury brands including Honey Birdette and NARS Cosmetics".

Partners and consultants who continue to be recognised as leading individuals in their fields include Robert Craig (Partnership), Ian Ryan (White Collar Crime), Mark Stephens (Art & Cultural Property), Emily Mailer (Contentious Trusts & Probate) and Michele Freyne (Property Litigation).
