Howard Kennedy raises a glass to The Green in Clerkenwell
Howard Kennedy has advised hospitality and property entrepreneurs Gareth Roberts and Nico Treguer of Roberts & Treguer on its latest acquisition – the purchase of The Green in Clerkenwell.
The purchase, completed at the end of 2016, now sees Roberts & Treguer owning and operating three pubs and restaurants – The Culpeper in Spitalfields, The Archers on Brick Lane, and now The Green in Clerkenwell.
The Green is described as a ‘modern British pub’, with a unique menu serving great food all day, every day. Its menu includes tasty bar snacks such as Welsh Rarebit and devilled crab on toast, with main courses including cod, squid and chickpea stew, grilled plaice with salsify, leeks and beurre blanc, and shoulder of lamb suit pudding with black broccoli and anchovies.
A full refurbishment of The Green is expected in 2017, including development of the roof space. Roberts & Treguer have with The Culpeper in Spitalfields created a stunning roof-top garden where they grow herbs and vegetables for the kitchen. The roof garden and greenhouse also offers a unique dining experience.

Earlier in 2016, Roberts & Treguer secured planning permission to create the first ‘passivhaus’ development in the Olympic Park: a collection of ultra-low energy buildings that is part of a canal-side residential scheme of houses and flats in Stratford, East London. The development will be completed in summer 2017.
