Howard Kennedy brings Galliard Homes and U+I together in £200m joint venture

Law firm Howard Kennedy has advised Galliard Homes on its joint venture with U+I that will deliver the £200m regeneration of the Westminster Industrial Estate into a new creative style urban district for London.

Adjacent to the Thames Barrier, the historic six-acre site will provide 450 residential units and creative workspace units around new public areas. The scheme will be designed by architects and master planners Studio Egret West.

The project is part of a larger Charlton Riverside regeneration scheme that will eventually provide up to 5,000 homes and a vibrant riverfront.

The Howard Kennedy team was led by Partner and Head of M&A Anthony Hunt, with support from Corporate Associate Amardeep Vangar. Hogan Lovells acted for U+I.

This is an exciting scheme and part of the wider Charlton Riverside opportunity area scheme, for which the Royal Borough of Greenwich has outlined a 15-20-year masterplan. We are delighted to have played the role in structuring the joint venture that brought together Galliard Homes and U+I.

David Hirschfield, Legal Director at Galliard Homes, said:

We have worked with Howard Kennedy since our inception some 25 years ago and they have always provided us with a first class legal service across all practice areas. Howard Kennedy’s extremely responsive nature together with its intuitive understanding of the commercial fundamentals within our business has led to the firm becoming an extension to all at Galliard.
