Law firm Howard Kennedy lead Maven Capital Partners on £1.1m investment
Law firm Howard Kennedy has advised Maven Capital Partners UK LLP on its £1.1m investment in Growth Capital Ventures Limited. Maven Capital Partners, the investment manager of six VCTs, made the investment, on 30 November 2016.
Growth Capital Ventures is a developer and operator of specialist online investment and alternative finance platforms that connects entrepreneurs and high growth businesses with investors.
The investment will enable Growth Capital Ventures to develop a new peer-to-peer lending platform that will provide access to pre-vetted quality investment opportunities that have the potential to deliver strong investment growth. The funding will also support its existing investment platforms and increase its expanding investor base in its core sectors that include real estate, technology and clean energy.
The Howard Kennedy team was led by Capital Markets associate Siân Dewing, with support from Intellectual Property associate Alex Meloy, Employment senior associate Karen Mortenson and with regulatory advice from partner Daniel Tunkel.
Siân Dewing said:
The UK online alternative finance market raised some £3.2bn in 2015, up 84% from £1.74bn in 2014, and is increasingly viewed as a mainstream asset class. Howard Kennedy has advised a number of investors and operators of P2P platforms and we are delighted to have acted for Maven on this investment.
Bill Kennedy, a partner at Maven said:
Maven is pleased to support GCV to enable it to further develop and enhance its highly sophisticated investment platform which has been uniquely designed to connect investors with opportunities across the real estate, technology and clean energy sectors.
